At Around the Mountain Pediatric Dentistry, we specialize in caring for infants, children and adolescents. Even before your child is born, proper dental care for mother and baby becomes an important part of their lives. A child's first dental visit should be no later than age one. We make each child's dental experience developmentally appropriate, and our goal is to start each child on "root" to a lifetime of healthy smiles. We have gone out of our way to make sure our staff is extraordinary, both in their dental skills and in their ability to interact with our patients. We pride ourselves in working together as a team to not only prevent potential dental problems, but to also treat and educate our young patients about preventative care in a fun, kid-friendly environment.
We are a multiple doctor practice, all of our providers are Board Certified Pediatric Dentists. Our doctors have privileges at Flagstaff Medical Center and The Ambulatory Surgery Center (TASC). In addition, we offer in-office general anesthesia under the care of an Anesthesiologist or Dental Anesthesiologist. All children are unique, and care cannot be managed in the same way for every child. Whether your child is healthy or requires special attention, our doctors can manage the care of your child/children.
Does your child's dentist offer you a low cost, safe and pain free alternative to drilling and filling? At Around the Mountain Pediatric Dentistry, we offer a unique alternative to traditional drilling and filling that is comfortable and non-invasive.
Around the Mountain Pediatric Dentistry utilizes an FDA approved application of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) to the surface of your child's affected tooth. Typically, it takes only one application paired with the doctors at home follow-up to have the best results.
As parents ourselves, we know how important it is to speak to someone during an emergency. It is for this reason we have installed a state-of-the-art phone system that can put you through to your dentist. If you are unable to reach us and do leave a message, our system will continue to page us until the voice message has been heard. Emergencies can happen anytime, and sometimes parents just need some reassurance or someone available to see their child.
We strive to prepare each child to be confident in dealing with trips to the dentist and start on the road to a healthy smile. Each child develops at their own pace, and seeing them as young as age one helps them to be acquainted with our staff and doctors. It also gives you, as the parent, a chance to get to know the dentist and develop a trusting relationship. By age 3, most children are ready to come back for cleanings, check-ups and restorative appointments by themselves and often tell their parents it's time for them to stay in the mommy and daddy's room. We love having a great relationship with our patients so that they are excited to come to our office with no fear or anxiety. The goal is to prepare each of our patients for a lifetime of pleasant dental experiences.
Most importantly, our doctors will speak to you at every visit. We have a very dedicated and knowledgeable staff, but we feel that parents need to be able to speak with their child's dentist for their check-ups and after each restorative appointment. It gives each doctor the opportunity to present options to you in order to help you make the most educated decision regarding your child's dental care. This time also gives each of us a chance to provide helpful tips tailored to your family in how to maintain good oral health. We believe that good oral health starts at home, and we encourage you to be a part of our team. We will be counting on you to give your child encouragement in good dental care at home, as well as share with us your questions and concerns.
We have many parents who say, "Wow, my child wouldn't even open his mouth at my dentist's office." Because we specialize in kids, we want to make our office fun and inviting, where they can come and feel at home! We have interactive toys where kids can utilize their imagination, touch, and of course test it out for durability. We even have a kid door that patients just love.
